As a private university dedicated to the public good, DU is proud to be educating the next generation of EMS professionals. DU has been recognized as an EMS education program by the Colorado 部门 Public Health 和 环境 和 is authorized to assess, evaluate 和 credential EMS providers. We provide a diverse offering of continuing education courses 和 specialized certifications. Behavioral health is our specialty as we redefine what out of hospital care looks like. 

Through our innovative 和 novel partnership with Denver Health EMS教育, we offer initial Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) education courses here at DU. Our 10-week course follows the National Emergency Medical Services Education St和ards 和 is designed to teach students the basic medical skills needed to respond in an emergency situation. This course provides the EMT student the knowledge 和 skills required to provide appropriate emergency care 和 transportation of patients.

Successful completion of this course qualifies 和 prepares the student to sit for the national certification examination offered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Our EMT classes are open to the entire community, including non-DU students. DU students who complete this course may utilize its credits as part of their degree program

Wilderness Medicine

詹姆斯C. Kennedy Mountain 校园 serves as a classroom for our renowned wilderness medicine programming. In collaboration with the Outdoor 领导 Program, we offer quarterly courses for certification as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness EMT (WEMT). These courses are designed for those that work or recreate in the outdoors or in other austere environments where access to medical care is delayed or communication is unreliable. These industry-st和ard courses are designed for professional guides, 旅行的领导人, search 和 rescue team members, outdoor recreationists 和 international travelers.
